EC590 vs EC6000: Which Qingtian VFD Should You Choose?

Qingtian EC590 and EC6000 variable frequency drives side by side

Pick the EC590 for general machinery that needs dependable V/F and sensorless vector control — pumps, fans, compressors, textile and packaging lines. Pick the EC6000 when the application needs torque control, closed-loop speed stability, through-wall mounting or expansion cards. Both platforms cover the 0.75–315 kW range with English documentation and Modbus integration.

Which applications fit each drive?

The EC590 general-purpose vector VFD is the workhorse for machinery where stable speed and controlled acceleration matter more than closed-loop precision: pumps, fans and HVAC, compressors, textile machines and packaging equipment. One hardware platform covers both induction and PM synchronous motors, which simplifies spares for panel builders.

The EC6000 high-performance VFD suits lines that need controlled torque at low speed, closed-loop speed stability or richer integration — cranes and hoists, extruders and wire drawing, machine tools and multi-axis production equipment. Expansion options and through-wall mounting make it easier to build into demanding cabinets; see the application families on our applications overview.

Three questions to decide

  1. Does the axis need torque control or closed-loop speed stability? If yes, choose the EC6000.
  2. Do you need through-wall mounting or option cards for feedback and communication? If yes, choose the EC6000.
  3. Otherwise choose the EC590 — you keep the budget and cabinet space down while retaining sensorless vector performance.

Mixed fleets are common and perfectly reasonable: both platforms share English documentation and Modbus connectivity, so many panel builders run the EC590 on utilities — pumps, fans, compressors — and reserve the EC6000 for the demanding axes.

FAQ

Does the EC6000 support encoder feedback?

Yes. Closed-loop vector control is a core EC6000 mode, with expansion options for feedback devices. Tell us your encoder type and speed-accuracy target and we will confirm the configuration before you order.

Which drive is right for a 90 kW water pump?

For a standard centrifugal pump, the EC590’s sensorless vector control is normally sufficient. Send the pump motor’s full-load current and duty cycle and we will confirm the frame — see our guide on how to size a VFD for the data we need.

Do both drives support Modbus?

Yes. The EC590 includes built-in RS-485 / Modbus RTU; the EC6000 offers Modbus plus expansion options for wider system integration.
